New Flagship Hire Station Branch Opens in Glasgow

After several months of activity Neil Stothard CEO Vp plc opened Hire Station’s new flagship branch in Glasgow. The branch has doubled in size having taken possession of the adjacent premises.
The branch improvement programme has added much needed capacity to our operation to take advantage of the many construction projects underway in Glasgow, the West of Scotland, Lanarkshire and Ayrshire, the branch serves a population of over 2 million people.

The new building houses a brand new open plan shop area showcasing the newly branded Hire Station counters, consumables layout and headers. Behind the counter, there is a work area that can be used by the branch team. Inside the configuration and décor stays true to Hire Station’s other recent developments, with comprehensively appointed facilities for our customers and our staff.

There is a large training room providing the required facilities for hosting comfortable and professional training courses, something Network Rail have already taken advantage of. This, with the addition of a dedicated training area, will help us to grow our PASMA and IPAF training revenues in Scotland’s Central Belt.

The old shop and offices in the branch have been removed, creating a brand new storage area for working at height products. The workshop has been relocated and the existing mezzanine area will be utilised for the storage of seasonal products. The branch has also become a Lifting Centre of Excellence providing additional revenue opportunities. Until now, all lifting products have been serviced from our Edinburgh location.
Core 250 assets available for hire
The depot has been purpose built to deliver ‘best in class customer experience. Glasgow joins with Greenford, Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh as major hubs for our activity, the branch doubling to 6,000 sq. ft.

Branch Manager Graham Guy and his team have maintained revenues and grown PBIT during the refreshment and are to be congratulated for their hard work in supporting the building programme whilst continuing to provide high levels of customer service. Neil was suitably impressed with our latest investment and his visit, support and encouragement for the team were truly appreciated by all. Certainly, all of the ingredients for success are evident and we look forward to posting some great results in the coming financial year and beyond.
